A Catholic
approach to
grave
restoration

Alleviation for the Church Suffering and preservation for the dignity of gravestones through prayer and work.

Requiem Aeternam is a pro-bono, Buffalo-based Catholic organization that is committed to alleviating the suffering of the Holy Souls in purgatory through the Ora et Labora method, or prayer and work. Grounded in performing Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy for departed souls, we are a prayer service primarily, and a grave-restoration service secondarily. Utilizing the infinite treasure trove of God's mercy, we strive to obtain plenary indulgences for souls while simultaneously cleaning their earthly graves. St. Gertrude, ora pro nobis.

OUR COMMITMENT

A Catholic Focus

A restoration team comprised entirely of Catholics means that every project will be influenced by the principles of the one, true Faith. We believe in Purgatory, and we believe in praying for the holy souls that lie therein.

Personalized Approach

We understand that every gravestone is unique, and we tailor our restoration process to reflect that. We meet the specific needs of each gravestone, and are safely and effectively able to clean marble, granite and limestone, among other stones and elements.

High-quality Products

Having conducted extensive research into proper grave-restoration techniques, we only utilize advanced cleaning products and methods to ensure that the gravestones we care for remain pristine and well-maintained. We only restore graves that are in proper condition to do so.

Plenary Indulgence

Relying entirely on the mercy of God, our restoration team attempts the arduous task of obtaining a plenary indulgence for each soul throughout their grave-restoration process. This is attempted by fulfilling the five requirements associated with a plenary indulgence. To avoid the sin of presumption, we want to make it very clear that it is not us who obtains a plenary indulgence, but rather it is through God's mercy alone that one can be obtained.

Words from Saints

“As we enter heaven, we will see them, so many of them coming towards us and thanking us. We will ask who they are, and they will say a poor soul you prayed for in purgatory.”

-Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen

"For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in, Naked, and you covered me: sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came to me."

-Matthew 25: 35-36

“By assisting them (holy souls) we shall not only give great pleasure to God but will acquire also great merit for ourselves. And, in return for our suffrages, these blessed souls will not neglect to obtain for us many graces from God, but particularly the grace of eternal life. I hold for certain that a soul delivered from Purgatory by the suffrages of a Christian, when she enters paradise, will not fail to say to God: ‘Lord, do not suffer to be lost that person who has liberated me from the prison of Purgatory, and has brought me to the enjoyment of Thy glory sooner than I have deserved.’”

- St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori

Prayer of St. Gertrude for the Holy Souls in Purgatory

“Eternal Father, I offer you the most precious blood of your Divine Son Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family."
~Amen~

Our Lord to St. Gertrude

“By the prayers of thy loving soul, I am induced to free a prisoner from purgatory as often as thou dost move thy tongue to utter a word of prayer!"

Prayer for Eternal Rest

"Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace."
~Amen~
